SUMMARY

The licenses that are listed in the Terminal Server Licensing administrative tool may appear as either Windows 2000 Server-Terminal Services CAL Token (Per-Device) or Windows 2000 Terminal Services Client Access License in Microsoft Windows Server 2003. The license name that appears depends on the method that you use to activate and install the client license key pack on the server.

When you view the list of licenses that are installed on Terminal Server License servers by using the Terminal Server Licensing administrative tool, you may see either of the following license names, depending on the method that is used to install client license tokens:

  • Windows 2000 Server-Terminal Services CAL Token (Per-Device)


This license name appears when the license server is configured to use the Automatic (recommended) installation method. The license server automatically connects to Microsoft Clearinghouse over the Internet

  • Windows 2000 Terminal Services Client Access License


This license name appears when the license server is configured to use the Web Browser or Telephone installation methods.
