APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001, when used with:
    • Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you configure SharePoint Portal Server to crawl and return information that is contained in the public folder store of a Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 computer, the "https:" display mapping is not applied correctly.

For example, when you specify display mappings rules for the content source and you map "http:" to "https:", update the index, and then query the public folder store, the Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) of the items that are returned in the search results use "http:" instead of "https:". The "https:" display mapping is ignored.

CAUSE

This problem may occur in situations when the destination buffer CGatherFiltSink::m_csDisplayURL is full, and the Microsoft Search service (MSSearch) incorrectly processes the display mapping.

RESOLUTION

This problem was first fixed in a hotfix that is now contained in a service pack. If you have installed SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 3 or a later service pack, you do not have to apply the hotfix.
