SYMPTOMS
When you save the changes that you made to your Web page that has an attached master page in Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003, you may not receive a warning message that indicates that the changes you made were to non-editable regions of the page.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if you use the Microsoft Script Editor to make changes because the script editor does not enforce master page functionality. To use the Script Editor, point to Macro on the Tools menu, and then click Microsoft Script Editor.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, do not use the Script Editor to make changes to a Web page that contains editable and non-editable regions. To make changes to the page:
- In Office FrontPage 2003, open your Web page that has an attached master page and that contains editable regions.
- Click Show Code View.
- In the HTML code of your Web page, make the changes you want to the Web page.
- On the File menu, click Save to save the changes you made to your Web page.
- You receive the following warning message:
When you receive this message, do one of the following:
- If you click Always restore non-editable content while editing this page, and then click OK, changes you made to the non-editable regions are not saved. The text of the non-editable regions is be restored to the original text.
- If you click Keep all changes, the changes you made to non-editable regions are saved. You also have the option to disconnect your Web page from the attached master page.
