SYMPTOMS
When you try to upgrade to the original release version (RTM) of Microsoft Office 2003 from a beta version of Office 2003 on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP, you are not prompted to provide the Registered Owner information or the Registered Organization information. The boxes where you type this information are unexpectedly populated with the user name and company name from the beta Office 2003 installation.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the information for the Registered Owner and the Registered Organization from the previous installation of Office 2003 is stored in the registry.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
