A snapshot that is created in Access 2002 may appear blank in Snapshot Viewer when used with the operating system Microsoft Windows 98

SYMPTOMS

When you export a report to snapshot format (*.snp), the snapshot may not display any data. This problem occurs when you create the report in Access 2002 and you are using a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 98.

Additionally, you may receive the following error message:

There isn't enough memory to update display. Close unneeded programs and try again.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you view the snapshot in Snapshot Viewer on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 98.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the problem, use one of the following methods:

Method 1 Change printer settings

  1. Open Printer Properties.
  2. Click the Finishing tab.
  3. Click to select the Economode check box.
  4. Click Detail.
  5. Change Rendering Mode to Send Graphics as Raster.
  6. Click to select the Send True Type as bitmaps check box.

If you use an Adobe Systems PostScript printer driver and Method 1 fails, use the following method:

Method 2 Switch to the Hewlett-Packard Printer Control Language (PCL) printer driver

If you use an Adobe Systems PostScript printer driver, switch to the Hewlett-Packard Printer Control Language (PCL) printer driver.

If you use a PCL printer driver and Method 1 fails, use the following method.

Method 3 Install an updated PCL printer driver

If you use a PCL printer driver, verify whether there is an updated version of the driver and then install the updated version of the driver.

If all previous methods fail, use the following method.

Method 4 Install a default printer driver that lets you view snapshot pages

If all previous methods fail, install a different default printer driver that lets you view snapshot pages.
