This article describes how to determine whether you have one of the following versions of SharePoint Portal Server installed on your computer:

  • SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2


-or-

  • Either SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2 Post-Release or SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2a

To determine which version of SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2 that you are running, follow these steps:

  1. Start Windows Explorer.
  2. Locate the following file:

    Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSSearch\Bin\Mssrch.dll

  3. Right-click Mssrch.dll, and then click Properties.
  4. Click the Version tab.

    If you have version 10.0145.6011.0 of Mssrch.dll installed, you are running SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2. If you have version 10.0145.6011.5 of Mssrch.dll, you are running SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2 Post-Release or SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2a.

    Note The SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2 Post-Release installation and the SharePoint Portal Server Service Pack 2a installation use the exact same version of Mssrch.dll.
