SUMMARY

Content Management Server relies heavily on Microsoft SQL Server 7 or SQL Server 2000 to store and provide its content. However, SQL Server may be vulnerable to the recent Slammer worm as described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

This article describes how to install SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) or post-Service Pack 2 security patch MS02-061on a SQL Server-based computer that houses a Content Manager Server database.

You can use any of the following methods to help protect SQL Server 2000 against the Slammer worm when you are using Content Management Server:

  • Install Service Pack 3 (SP3) on SQL Server
  • Install post-Service Pack 2 (SP2) security patch MS02-061 on SQL Server

Install SP3 on SQL Server 2000

  1. To download the appropriate service pack for your installation of SQL Server, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
  2. Extract the service pack files to a folder.
  3. Double-click Setup.bat to start the installation.
  4. When the Backward compatibility checklist appears, make sure that the Enable cross-database ownership chaining for all databases check box is not selected (by default, this check box is not selected).
  5. Complete the installation process, and then follow the recommendation to back up the master databases.
