SYMPTOMS

When you run online defragmentation on a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server-based server, Exchange clients who are using Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Web Access cannot open e-mail messages.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Exchange server prevents access to e-mail messages during online defragmentation.

RESOLUTION
