SYMPTOMS

When you drag a file or files from a shell namespace extension to a file system folder that is shown in a Windows Explorer window, you may receive no confirmation dialog box if a file that you drag to the folder already exists in that folder. The existing file may be overwritten without a confirmation message. This problem occurs after you install or upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.

CAUSE

This problem affects any shell extension's drag-and-drop implementation if that implementation supports only CFSTR_FILECONTENTS/CFSTR_FILEDESCRIPTOR. If the data object supports another format, such as CFSTR_SHELLIDLIST or CF_HDROP, the confirmation dialog box appears.
