How to Use the Outlook Express Address Book in a Mail Merge
To use the Outlook Express Address Book as a mail merge data source in Word, you must export it. To export the Address Book from Outlook Express, follow these steps:
- Start Outlook Express.
- On the File menu, point to Export, and then click Address Book.
- In the Address Book Export Tool dialog box, click Text File (Comma Separated Values), and then click Export.
- In the Save exported file as box, type a file name for your exported Address Book file, and then click Browse.
- In the Save in field of the Save As dialog box, specify a location in which to save the file.
- In the Save as type box, click either Comma Separated Values (*.csv) or Text Files (*.txt) (as appropriate to the format that you want to use), and then click Save.
Note: You can save your Outlook Express Address Book in either Comma Separated Values (*.csv) or Text Files (*.txt) format. Word can use either format.
- Click Next.
- Click to select the check boxes next to the fields that you want to export, and then click Finish.
- Click OK when you receive the message that the export procedure is completed.
- Click Close to close the Address Book Export Tool dialog box.
