SYMPTOMS

After you start a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, you cannot manually stop or start any services. The computer may stop responding.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Logical Disk Manager (DMAdmin) service enters a processing loop when it tries to start a dependency service (Dmserver.dll) if the service is not already started. However, the Service Control Manager cannot perform a nested start of services, causing the computer to stop responding.
