SYMPTOMS
When you run a macro in Microsoft Word 2000 after you install the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 1 (SP1) client components on your computer, you may receive the following message:
When you click Yes in the message dialog box to restore the menu items, the message reappears. Additionally, CPU utilization for Winword.exe may increase significantly, and Word 2000 may stop responding.
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the macro contains code that removes the SharePoint Portal Server menu items in Word 2000. In this situation, you receive a message that prompts you to restore the menu items. However, the message is not processed correctly. As a result, the message does not close as expected when you click Yes.
RESOLUTION
Hotfix Information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 service pack that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites
Because of file dependencies, this hotfix requires Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2001 Service Pack 1.

WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, click No on the message to turn off the Office Integration functionality in SharePoint Portal Server.
