Visio 2000 stops responding ("Hangs") when you access a menu command

SUMMARY

When you click a menu command in Microsoft Visio or when you try to access any of the menu commands by using a keyboard shortcut, Visio may stop responding ("hang"). When this occurs, you must press CTRL+ALT+DEL, and then use Task Manager to quit Visio.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • Your computer uses a video adapter that is based on the NVIDIA graphics chipset.


-and-

  • The NVIDIA video adapter driver uses the NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager program.


-and-

  • The NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager program is preventing you from accessing the menu commands correctly in Visio.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, quit the NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager program, and then configure the program so that it does not start automatically when your computer starts. For more information about how to do this, see the program documentation or contact the manufacturer of your video adapter.
