The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 4.a, 5.0
  • Microsoft Excel for OS/2, versions 2.2, 3.0
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, versions 2.x, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0

SYMPTOMS

If you define a name in Microsoft Excel that refers to another named range(s), the new name does not appear in the Go To list in the Go To dialog box.

The new name also does not appear in the Name Box in Microsoft Excel version 5.0.

WORKAROUND

To select a range on a worksheet that refers to another named range(s), type the new name in the Reference box in the Go To dialog box and choose OK. Even though the name is not available in the Go To list, you can type the new name in this dialog box and the correct range is selected.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
