SUMMARY
A nonbreaking or hard space (CTRL+SHIFT+SPACEBAR) in a Microsoft Word version 4.00 document will print as no space when printed to a NEC P6 or P7 printer.
For example, the following text
Hello<nonbreaking space>there
will print as the following:
Hellothere
An incorrect value in the PS font width table for the NECP6.PRD file causes this to occur. In the second width table (W2), the value reads as follows:
255:0.
The value should read as follows:
255:120.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 4.00. This problem was corrected in Word version 5.00. The Word 5.00 printer driver has been renamed to NEC.PRD.
