Summary:

The M/H Group’s various implementations of the VsCom program provide high-speed file transfer and file conversion capability between various platforms and applications and Wang word processors running on a Wang VS system. The different versions of VsCom include:

  • VsCom for MS-DOS: Wang VS 2110 asynchronous terminal emulation and document/file transfer for PCs running MS-DOS.
  • VsCom for Windows: Wang VS 2110 asynchronous terminal emulation and document/file transfer for PCs running Windows.
  • WsCom/Macintosh: Wang VS 2110 asynchronous terminal emulation and document/file transfer for Macintosh
  • VsCom/LAN: Document/file transfer between PC LANs and Wang VS using Wang PC LAN/VS ACCESS software.
  • VsCom/WLOC: Document/file transfer between dual coaxial connected PCs and Wang VS using Wang PCLIS software.

All versions of VsCom, with the exception of VsCom/Macintosh, support simultaneous two-way transfer and conversion of documents and files between the Wang WP Plus and Standard WP document formats on the VS system and the following word processing file formats on the PC:

  • Microsoft Word for Windows
  • Microsoft Word for MS-DOS through version 5.5
  • WordPerfect 4.2, 5.0, and 5.1
  • MultiMate through version 4.0
  • DisplayWrite DCA-RFT
  • Professional Write through version 2.0
  • OfficeWriter through version 6.0
  • WordStar
  • Wang PC

VsCom/Macintosh supports two-way transfer and conversion between Wang WP Plus and Standard WP document formats on the VS system and the following word processing file formats on the Macintosh:

  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh
  • MacWrite
  • WordPerfect

Microsoft has not tested these products with Word for Windows and therefore cannot guarantee the results.
