The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for Windows versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1.1a

SUMMARY

The following are steps for exporting a Windows metafile from Micrografx Designer 3.01. Although these steps are likely similar, they may vary for earlier versions of Designer.

Steps to Export

  1. Select the symbols to be included in the exported file, or select no symbols to export the entire drawing.
  2. From the File menu, choose the Export command.
  3. Enter a name for the file with no extension.
  4. Highlight the WMF Windows Metafile export option, choose the Export command, and press ENTER. Designer automatically adds a file extension, depending on the output format chosen. The WMF file extension assigned matches that expected by default by the Word for Windows graphics filter WMF.FLT.

MORE INFORMATION

According to Micrografx, for best results, select the target printer (the one you will print to) with the Change Printer command in the File menu before exporting a Windows metafile.

Note: The maximum Windows metafile size supported by the WMF graphic filter shipped with Word for Windows 1.1a and earlier versions is 64K. An updated WMF filter is now available that eliminates this 64K limit. To obtain this filter, contact Microsoft Product Support Services at (425) 462-WORD and request the “Replacement Graphic Filters” application note.
