SUMMARY
The WordStar 6.0 and 7.0 file formats are not directly supported by Word for MS-DOS versions 4.0, 5.0, or 5.5, or Word for Windows versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0, or 2.0a. However, WordStar 6.0 includes a conversion program called Star Exchange that supports conversion to and from Microsoft Word for MS-DOS file format. Star Exchange can be used as a means to convert between WordStar and either Word for MS-DOS or Word for Windows.
NOTE: Direct support for these two file formats have been added in Word 6.0 for Windows and the Word 6.0 for MS-DOS Supplemental Converter Kit.

In addition, although not officially supported or tested, WordStar 6.0 shares the same file format as WordStar 5.0 with only a few additions (for example, style definitions). Therefore, if you choose to open a WordStar 6.0 file as WordStar 5.5, it will probably be converted successfully.
Installation and usage instructions for the Star Exchange program are included on pages SE1-30 of the WordStar “Companion Programs” manual.
Microsoft has not tested the Star Exchange conversion utility and cannot guarantee proper functionality.
