“Not a Valid Entry” Error Running Envelope Macro

MS-DOS

SUMMARY

When running the supplied macro ENVELOPE.MAC, line 58 of the macro sets the Print Options “paper feed:” field to Envelope. If the current printer driver (PRD) file listed in the Print Options “printer:” field does not have Envelope as a choice in the “paper feed:” field, the error message “Not a valid entry; press F1 to select from list” will appear.

This is not a macro error message but an error message from the Print Options menu stating that “Envelope” is not a valid choice in the “paper feed:” field for the printer driver and/or model of printer selected in the Print Options menu.

It may be difficult to read this error message, especially on fast AT computers, because it flashes on the screen only for a moment. The error beep should sound even if the error message flashes too quickly to read it.

This macro can’t be used with a printer that does not have an envelope feeder or that does not have envelope feeder support in the Print Options “paper feed:” field.

MORE INFORMATION

If a Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet IIP printer is being used and it isn’t listed in the Print Options “model:” field when the appropriate LaserJet printer driver is selected in the Print Options “printer:” field, select LaserJet IID in the Print Options “model:” field.

Direct support for the HP LaserJet IIP is available in Word 5.00a.

If an HP LaserJet Series II is being used with the custom envelope tray, also select LaserJet IID in the Print Options “model:” field.

Please note that the custom envelope tray for the HP LaserJet Series II is not supported by Microsoft and therefore we cannot guarantee proper results.
