SUMMARY

To insert tab stops with the ruler and keyboard keys:

  1. Be sure the ruler is visible. If it is not, choose Ruler from the View menu (ALT+V, R).

  2. Select the paragraph(s) in which you want to set tab stops.

  3. Activate the ruler (CTRL+SHIFT+F10).

  4. Press the RIGHT or LEFT ARROW key until the ruler cursor is at the place where you want to insert a tab stop. If you want to change the tab stop alignment, press 1, 2, 3, or 4 to select the appropriate tab stop alignment.

    Hint: Using the numeric keypad to change the tab stop alignment will not work. You must use the main keyboard numbers.

  5. Press INS to insert a tab stop.

  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to insert the remaining tab stops, and then press ENTER to apply them to the paragraph.
