Summary:

If the Word for Windows Setup disk does not contain a file entitled WWORDSU.INF, the following error message will result:

Information file is not in current directory

WWORDSU.INF is a text file needed by the Word for Windows Setup program. Without the WWORDSU.INF file, Setup will immediately prompt with the above error message (the setup process is immediately halted).

Word for Windows version 2.0

In Word for Windows version 2.0, if the Setup disk does not contain the WWORD20.INF file, the following error message will result:

Unable to update the information file. The disk cannot be write protected. Do you want to retry the update?

If the Word for Windows Setup disk does not contain the WWORD20.INF file, contact Microsoft Sales and Service at (800) 426-9400.

More Information:

The Word for Windows Setup program should be run from the floppy disk drive by typing

setup

at the A or B prompt. To determine if the file is on the Setup disk in Word for Windows 1.0 and 1.1, type the following at the appropriate DOS prompt:

dir WWORDSU.INF

In Word for Windows version 2.0 type:

dir WWORD20.INF
