Word error message: “Not a Word Thesaurus dictionary”
If you rename the Microsoft Word version 5.00 or 5.00a thesaurus file WFBG.SYN to THES-AM.LEX and use it with Word version 5.00b, the “Not a Word Thesaurus dictionary” message will appear.
The WFBG.SYN thesaurus file (from Microlytics, Inc.) can be used with Word versions 5.00 and 5.00a, but not with Word versions 5.00b and 5.50, which share the thesaurus file THES-AM.LEX (from SoftArt, Inc.).
MORE INFORMATION
If the Word 5.00 or Word 5.00a thesaurus WFBG.SYN is renamed to THES-AM.LEX for use with Word version 5.50, the following error message will occur:
Word’s thesaurus dictionary is damaged
If the THES-AM.LEX file from Word version 5.00b or 5.50 is renamed to WFBG.SYN and used with Word version 5.00 or Word 5.00a, Word will load the thesaurus without an error message, but will only display nonsensical text.
