Word 5.50: Setup Hangs on IBM 3270 PC

PSS ID Number: Q70068 Article last modified on 11-02-1994

5.50

MS-DOS

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for MS-DOS version 5.5

SUMMARY

The Setup program provided with Microsoft Word version 5.50 may hang when running on an IBM 3270 PC or a PC using 3270 emulation software. This may occur when scrolling (by pressing a direction key) through the list of printers displayed by Setup, or when Setup prompts for the Program 1 disk.

Removing or disabling the 3270 Workstation software on the IBM 3270 PC may not prevent this problem from occurring.

As a temporary workaround to this problem, run Setup on another computer and copy the Word 5.50 program files from the other computer to the IBM 3270 PC. When Setup prompts for the selection of a video adapter type and printer, select the video adapter type and printer that will be used on the IBM 3270 PC.

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.
