Style Area Width Not Available in Page View in WinWord PSS ID Number: Q69940 Article last modified on 07-14-1994

1.00 1.10 1.10a 2.00

WINDOWS

Summary:

When there is a measurement in the Style Area Width box and you are working in page or page layout view, the Style Area does not display. This behavior is by design.

More Information:

To change the Style Area Width in Word for Windows version 1.0, 1.1, or 1.1a, choose Preferences from the View menu, and type a positive measurement in the Style Area Width box. To change the Style Area Width in Word for Windows version 2.0, choose Options from the Tools menu, and change the Style Area Width under View.

Having the style area available allows you to see what style is currently being used in a specific paragraph. The style area requires space on the left-hand side of the page; therefore, it is not an option in page view because it interferes with the page layout.
