MS-DOS

Summary:

The cursor, or highlighted cell, will not appear in a Microsoft Multiplan worksheet if the colors have been set incorrectly or if the Multiplan files have been copied from a computer where a color card was chosen.

There are two methods to fix this problem:

  1. Delete the MP.INI file.
  2. Change the screen colors.

More Information:

To change the colors on a color monitor, do the following:

  1. From the Window menu, choose Paint.
  2. In the Window Paint menu, press TAB to move the cursor to the “foreground:”, “background:”, “border:”, or “menu:” field.
  3. Press RIGHT ARROW or LEFT ARROW to scroll through the color options for each field. The Multiplan screen can display eight colors, numbered 0 through 7. To display only colors 0 and 7, press the UP or DOWN ARROW key.
  4. Once you have made your selections, press ENTER.

On an IBM monochrome monitor or similar black-and-white display, colors appear as different shades of gray.

The color choices are saved in the MP.INI file when you exit Multiplan.

Color Monitor

The color codes are listed in the following table:

Color Code Color ———- —–

0 Black 1 Blue 2 Green 3 Cyan 4 Red 5 Magenta 6 Yellow 7 White

Monochrome Monitor

On a monochrome monitor, the colors will appear as different shades of one color.

To display dark characters on a light background, enter 0 in the “foreground:” field and 7 in the “background:” field.

To display an underscore across the rows, enter 1 in the “foreground:” field.

To mark rows on the window border (of different brightness), enter 1 in the “border:” field.

To display a light band along the window border, enter 0 in the “border:” field and 7 in the “background:” field.
