SUMMARY
According to ALPS Technical Support, the Allegro 500 and Allegro 500XT can emulate the Epson LQ2550.
The following is a list of drivers that can be used with this printer. Location on disk refers to the location on the Microsoft Word version 5.50 disks. The PRD files shipped with Word 5.50 are in a compressed format and should be decompressed using the Word Setup program.
To decompress the PRD files, run the Setup program, choose to “Modify an existing copy of Word,” and install the printer described below. It is also possible to manually decompress the PRD file following the instructions on page 67 of Microsoft Word 5.50 “Getting Started” manual. After installing the new driver, start Word, open or begin a new file, and choose File Printer Setup to select the new printer driver.

Microsoft has not tested these emulations and therefore cannot guarantee the results.
