UAE Pasting Resources that Use Nonstandard Calendar

SUMMARY

If a resource is copied to a new resource sheet and the resource calendar is not based on the Standard Calendar, an Unrecoverable Application Error (UAE) will occur.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. From the Options menu, choose Base Calendars. Select New.
  2. In the Name field, enter “nightshift” (without the quotation marks). Choose OK and select Close.
  3. From the View menu, choose Resource Sheet.
  4. From the Table menu, choose Define Tables and select New.
  5. Under Field Name, enter “Name” (without the quotation marks). Also enter “Base Calendar” (under “Name”, so you have two entries under Field Name). Choose OK and select Set.
  6. On the Resource Sheet, enter one resource.
  7. In the Base Calendar field, enter “nightshift” (without the quotation marks).
  8. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
  9. From the File menu, choose New.
  10. From the View menu, choose Resource Sheet.
  11. From the Edit menu, choose Paste.
  12. From the Table menu, choose the table you created in step 4.

After this step, the “Unrecoverable Application Error, Terminating Current Application” message is displayed.

WORKAROUND

Either change all resources so that they are based on the Standard Calendar, or clone the resource pool by choosing Save As from the File menu. NOTE: Do not choose this second option if the resource pool is being shared by other projects.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Project for Windows version 1.00. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project for Windows version 3.00.
