Word 5.50: Cannot Use ALT+BACKSPACE with BIOSSAFE.KBD

PSS ID Number: Q68603 Article last modified on 11-02-1994

5.50

MS-DOS

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for MS-DOS version 5.5

SUMMARY

Selecting the “Safe keyboard support for TSRs and 3270 emulations” option from the list of computer types displayed by the Word 5.50 Setup program will cause Setup to install the keyboard driver file BIOSSAFE.KBD as part of the Word 5.50 video driver file (SCREEN.VID).

A side effect of using the BIOSSAFE.KBD keyboard driver is that the ALT+BACKSPACE key combination cannot be used to undo the last edit performed on a document. A workaround to this limitation is to select the Edit Undo command instead of using ALT+BACKSPACE.

MORE INFORMATION

This does not occur if you are using Microsoft Word for MS-DOS version 6.0.
