SUMMARY
When you are using Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, versions 3.0, 3.01, 3.02, 4.0 or 5.0, in a multiple-column mailing label print merge, the top lines of the second and third columns sometimes may not line up. On different pages the different columns line up in different ways, while on other pages they may line up evenly. There may also be blank pages in between filled ones.
If a single line of data is wider than a column, it wraps down to the next line. This pushes the rest of the labels for that page down by one line. Therefore, the top of the following column is in the wrong position. Because every print-merged page comes from your main document, every new page is reset; therefore, if every line on a page fits within a column, it prints correctly.
To correct this problem, a smaller font size should be used. The space between columns must be reduced or the amount of data on the wide line must be reduced.

Another way to prevent this problem is by separating the columns by section breaks and formatting those breaks as “New Column” under Format Section. This will tell Word exactly where to start a new column. Note that there should not be any blank lines directly before or after the section break (the blank lines that normally separate one label from another).
