SUMMARY
Microsoft Works for MS-DOS version 2.0 can convert to and from the following word processor file formats with the conversion utility, which is accessed with the File Convert command on the main menu:
Microsoft Word for MS-DOS Microsoft Works for MS-DOS DCA RTF
This utility converts to and from DCA (Document Content Architecture), which is IBM’s standard file format. WordPerfect, MultiMate, DisplayWrite, and other word processing applications can save files in this format. RTF (Rich-Text Format) is Microsoft’s standard file format for transferring documents between different applications such as Microsoft Works for the Macintosh and Works for MS-DOS.
The file conversion utility does not ship with Works; however, it is available along with supplemental printer support by sending in the coupon enclosed in the Works box, or by contacting Microsoft End User Sales at (800) 426-9400. If you call from outside the United States, please contact Microsoft International Customer Service at (425) 936-8661.
Works can recognize spreadsheet files in Lotus 1-2-3 versions 1A and 2.2. Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Multiplan both can save files in this format.
Works can recognize database files in delimited ASCII format. R:BASE, dBASE, and other popular database programs can save files in this format. Works can save or load files in ASCII format.
