Word Prints Hidden Paragraph Marks

SUMMARY

Paragraph marks formatted as hidden text print as normal paragraph marks at print time regardless of the “hidden text:” field setting of Print Options.

Word does not allow text from two different paragraphs to appear on the same line due to a hidden paragraph mark.

Word understands each paragraph as a rectangle with a certain height and width. Complex layout situations can be created with these rectangles. For instance, a paragraph wraps around a graphic image by being broken into multiple distinct rectangles. To be a distinct rectangle, the rectangle (paragraph) cannot appear on the same line as another. This is why the ability to hide a paragraph mark is not available in Word Version 5.00 as it was in previous versions of Word.
