- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY

In the Commands dialog box and in the printed list of commands, the Cancel command lists a hollow button symbol and Command+. (period) as the keyboard equivalents. This hollow button represents the ESC key in the upper-left-hand corner of the keyboard.

This symbol may be confused with the CLEAR key because the NUM LOCK command lists the hollow button symbol with the keypad symbol, which signifies a key on the numeric keypad on the far right hand side of the keyboard.

The font used to display the special keys in Word currently does not have a different symbol to display in place of the hollow button symbol.
