SUMMARY

To copy or cut footnotes in Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, do the following:

  1. Highlight the footnote reference number(s) of the footnote(s) you want to copy or cut.
  2. From the Edit menu, choose Copy or Cut.

If you are copying footnotes, continue with the following steps:

  1. Open the document into which you want to copy the footnote(s).

  2. Position the cursor where you want the footnote reference(s) number(s).

  3. From the Edit menu, choose Paste.

  4. Check the footnotes by pressing COMMAND+OPTION+SHIFT+S.

Word automatically includes the footnote with the page the footnote reference number is pasted onto, and renumbers the footnotes if they were created with automatic footnote numbering.
