The information in this article applies to: |
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, version 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 |
SYMPTOMS
When you export a Microsoft Works version 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0 Word Processor document to Aldus PageMaker version 3.0, your Works document is not formatted correctly.
CAUSE
You can save Works version 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 Word Processor documents as Rich Text Format (RTF). However, PageMaker version 3.0 does not support RTF. Versions of PageMaker later than 3.0 do support RTF.
NOTE: This problem does not occur with Works versions 1.0 and 1.1.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, use either of the following methods:
Method 1
Later versions of PageMaker (such as versions 3.02, 4.2, and 5.0) allow you to import Works version 2.0 files. To obtain an updated version of PageMaker, please contact Aldus.
Method 2
If you have Microsoft Word version 3.02 or later, follow these steps:
- Save the Works version 2.0 document.
- Open the document in Word, and then save it as a normal Word document.
- Insert the Word document in PageMaker.
