SUMMARY

In Word Versions 3.x, the SHIFT key is used to extended the highlight with the arrow keys on the numeric keypad when NUM LOCK is turned on. When NUM LOCK is turned off, the SHIFT key causes the arrow keys to produce numbers.

In Word Version 4.00, if the SHIFT key is pressed, the arrow keys on the numeric keypad still produce numbers when NUM LOCK is turned on. When NUM LOCK is turned off, the SHIFT key causes the arrow keys on the numeric keypad to extend the highlight.

In Word Version 5.00, the SHIFT key causes the arrow keys on the numeric keypad to provide cursor movement when NUM LOCK is turned on. When NUM LOCK is turned off, the SHIFT key causes the arrow keys on the numeric keypad to extend the highlight.
