SUMMARY Excel will not recognize the RETURN() function if it has been entered as an array (using COMMAND+ENTER). When the macro is run, Excel will skip the RETURN() statement and generate the error "RETURN() or HALT() was not encountered." This occurs by product design. If you want to return an array as the result of a function macro, your macro should declare that the result of the function will be an array. Do this by using "=RESULT(64)" as the first statement in the macro. To set up the values for the RETURN() statement to use, place the values either in cells on the macro sheet and use a reference to them, or place the exact values in an array as the RETURN() argument.
