SYMPTOMS

When you open a document that contains text form fields, and the document has been saved as a Rich Text Format (rtf) file, the font formatting of the form field may change to another font. The font might change to a font that contains double-byte characters, such as MS Mincho, MS Gothic or Arial Unicode MS. One or more of these fonts must be installed for this problem to occur.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods:

  • Put the insertion point in the form field, and then press the DELETE key. The font of the form field reverts to the original font and point size. You may want to automate this process by using a macro.
  • Do not save the file as an .rtf file.
  • Remove the MS Mincho, MS Gothic and Arial Unicode fonts from your computer.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Office XP Service Pack 3.
