SYMPTOMS

When you try to use a dial-up connection to connect to the Internet, the modem does not dial or it misdials the phone number. If you try to use the phone book to change or correct the dial-up connection phone number, the entries are not available or they are not correct.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you have two modems installed on your computer and one of the modems is disabled.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
