WD2002: Italian: Number of Lines on Page May Change After You Undo an Edit That Automatically Hyphenated a Word

Article ID: 330575

Article Last Modified on 4/7/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Word 2002 Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q330575

SYMPTOMS

When you undo an editing action in Word 2002, the page where the editing occurred may have one line fewer than it can have. The text that should be on the last line appears on the first line of the next page.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the editing action caused Word to automatically hyphenate a word somewhere else on the same page. When you undo the change, Word does not undo any automatic hyphenation actions that were caused by this change, and it does not recalculate the document.

This problem may occur both when you click Undo on the Edit menu, and when you use the DEL or BACKSPACE key to remove the text that you just typed.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing to further ensure product quality. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Office XP service pack that contains this hotfix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the specific update in question.
