SYMPTOMS
When you view the system log on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server-based server, you may see events that are similar to the following:

Description: The server service was unable to map error code 1230.

CAUSE
This problem may occur if your domain is a mixed environment that includes Microsoft Windows NT-based computers. If a Windows NT-based computer generates error code 1230 or error code 1240, the ConvertApiStatusToDosStatus function on the PDC cannot map error codes 1230 or 1240 to the correct MS-DOS error.
RESOLUTION

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
MORE INFORMATION
Error codes 1230 and 1240 are sent from the Server service. The error codes are defined as follows:
- 1230
ERROR_CONNECTION_ACTIVE
An invalid operation was attempted on an active network connection
- 1240
ERROR_LOGIN_WKSTA_RESTRICTION
The account is not authorized to log in from this station
Event 2510 can be ignored. This event is not caused by an actual error on the server.
