SYMPTOMS
On a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer, you may experience a loss of service for the SCSI Adapters because the SCSI port driver does not reload the Adapter miniport drivers, or it loads PNP Miniport drivers as legacy miniport drivers.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a code defect in SCSI port driver (Scsiport.sys) on all versions earlier than and including Windows 2000 Service Pack 3. This results in initialization errors, and eventually the SCSI port driver cannot reload adapter drivers.

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
