SYMPTOMS

If you remove an IEEE 1394 storage device from your Windows 2000-based computer when the computer is in an S1 or S3 sleep state, the computer may not resume correctly from this power state. The computer displays a blank screen.

To resume the computer from the sleep state, you must reconnect the IEEE 1394 storage device to the computer.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the 1394 mass-storage driver, Sbp2port.sys, does not correctly detect IEEE 1394 storage devices that are removed from a computer while the computer is in a sleep state.

RESOLUTION

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
