SYMPTOMS
When you try to establish a trust between Windows 2000 domains, you receive an error message similar to one of the following:

CAUSE
This issue occurs because the DNS service cannot locate server resources on the domain with which you are trying to establish the trust.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, add a secondary DNS zone to support name resolution. To do so, follow these steps:
- In the DNS Manager, right-click Forward lookup zone, and then click New Zone.
- In the New Zone Wizard, click Next.
- Under Zone Type, click Standard secondary, and then click Next.
- Type a name for the zone, and then click Next.
- Type the IP address of the DNS zone that you want to add.
- Confirm the information, and then click Finish.
