SYMPTOMS

When you try to view "Helpful Movies" or use the "Get Creative Ideas" section in Microsoft Picture It!, the helpful movies may not play, and the Creative Ideas pane may be blank.

CAUSE

This issue may be caused by an upgrade to Macromedia Flash Player version 6.0.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, follow these steps.

Important The following steps disable Macromedia Flash 6.0 and may cause other programs that require Macromedia Flash 6.0 to not function correctly.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\flash.ocx" /u, and then click OK.
  3. Click Start, and then click Run.
  4. In the Open box, type regsvr32 "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\swflash.ocx", and then click OK.

If you cannot register the Swflash.ocx file, the Swflash.ocx file may be located in a different folder. Search all your hard disks for the Swflash.ocx file, and then copy it to the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder. Repeat steps 3 and 4. Test to determine if the issue is resolved. If the issue is resolved, do not complete the remaining steps. If the issue is not resolved, go to the next step.
  5. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  6. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  7. Click Windows Setup, and then click Multimedia.
  8. Click to select the Macromedia Shockwave Flash check box.
  9. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install Macromedia Flash.

Test to determine if the issue is resolved. If the issue is resolved, do not complete the remaining steps. If the issue is not resolved, go to the next step.
