SYMPTOMS

If you are using the Scheduled Tasks tool, the Security tab may not appear when you view the properties or advanced properties of a new task. The online Help states that this tab should appear.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by an incorrect modification to the window class.

RESOLUTION

Service pack information

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, drag the task from the Scheduled Tasks folder to another folder. The Security tab then appears.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
