Cannot Modify Background Processing Time Lapse Setting After You Apply SRP1

SYMPTOMS

After you apply Content Management Server (CMS) Security Rollup Package 1 (SRP1), background processing may ignore the lapse time that is set on the Server Configuration Application (SCA), or you may see informational logs such as the following in the log viewer:

Background Processing failed to set the last processing date.

The source for this log is NCompass Resolution, and the log appears after the following NCompass Resolution log:

Background Processing started.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Content Management Server 2001 security rollup package that contains this hotfix.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Content Management Server 2001.
