SYMPTOMS
After you apply Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on a computer that is accessed by using Terminal Services, you may sporadically not be able to print to redirected local printers or a network printer if the document that is being printed is opened from a mapped network drive. However, you may be able to print from an administrator account. The document seems to be printed, but if you view the event log entry for the print job, you see that the UNC path of the mapped drive is added to the typical Terminal Services port. If you view the network folder that is the mapped network drive, you see a file that is named with the port number (in this case TS012). This is a sample event for such a print job:

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Apply this hofix on the Terminal Server device.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem without applying the hotfix, print the document from a UNC path instead of from a mapped drive. For example, if you typically print from drive M, which is mapped to a network share, print the document directly from the UNC path (\\servername\share).
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
