SYMPTOMS

After an administrator uses Remote Desktop, a user who is not an administrator may receive the following error message when the user tries to log on locally:

You do not have access to logon to this session.

If the user clicks OK and then types the logon credentials again, the user can log on.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2.
