SYMPTOMS

WORKAROUND
There may also be other unintended results when a surprise removal of critical hardware (such as a host bus adapter) occurs. Before you perform a surprise removal, make sure that the hardware platform that you are using has been tested and approved by your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to support such actions.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
