SYMPTOMS

In a Visual C# .NET project, if you reference an assembly, and then set the CopyLocal property to False, and that assembly references another (dependent) assembly, the dependent assembly is copied locally.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Visual Studio .NET 2002 Service Pack 1.
